I became a member of The Gates Mills Garden Club because of my curiosity about the natural world. I grew up along the Chagrin River, near the Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation, and came to understand that the wildflowers, pollinators, trees, birds, and various critters that thrived in this environment all had something in common - they needed support to succeed. Thus my interest grew in native plants and finding ways to create pretty gardens and landscapes that also provide sustainable habitats. The Garden Club provides many diverse programs that have increased my knowledge about plants and their dependents. In addition, there are many opportunities to provide service to the community and fun activities to try....plus there is always something good to eat! I will enjoy serving as co-president in the next two years because this organization offers a wonderful way to learn, to inspire, connect, and have fun.
