LAKE COUNTY MASTER GARDENER COURSE In-Person Course: Wednesdays, July 31, Aug. 7, 14, 21, 28 from 10am – 1pm with a field day on Saturday, August 31 for participants seeking professional certification. Online Course: August 26 – September 29 with a field day on Saturday, October 5 for participants seeking professional certification.
This Master Rain Gardener Program will teach you how to install rain gardens on a residential scale. Rain gardens naturally manage stormwater by infiltrating precipitation and allowing it to soak into the ground rather than sending it directly to storm sewers and nearby streams untreated. Experienced instructors will provide customized feedback which will enable you to design and install a rain garden. Topics will include site assessment, soil analysis, design, construction, plant selection, mulching, and maintenance.
This five-week course is open to residents of Lake and Geauga county and can be taken in-person or online. The in-person course will be held at the Lake Metroparks Lakefront Lodge, 30525 Lake Shore Blvd., Willowick. The online course will be offered as five weekly modules, allowing for more flexibility. Each course offers a two-track option, where participants can choose to receive a residential certification or a professional Master Rain Gardner certification. Residential participants will receive a certificate, Master Rain Gardener T-shirt, and yard sign upon course completion. Contractors, landscape designers, landscape installers and other professionals who will install residential-scale rain gardens will be required to participate in a field day and pass a final exam before receiving a professional Master Rain Gardener certification.

FLORAL DEMONSTRATION BY JOSEPH MASSIE AT CLEVELAND MUSEUM OF ART CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF FLOWER FUND DESIGN Monday, December 3, 2019For three decades, flowers have graced the entrance lobby of the Cleveland Museum of Art. This weekly contribution of floral artistry is created by members of the Flower Fund, a committee of the Women's Council of the Cleveland Museum of Art (WCCMA). Thanks to the vision of two of its members, Ingrid Lüders and the late Josephine (Jo) Talbott, the Flower Fund Endowment was established in 1989. On December 3rd, 2019, the museum will be celebrating its 30th Anniversary with a demonstration by British floral artist Joseph Massie. Founder of the renown floral studio Joseph Massie Flowers based in Liverpool, England, Massie earned a record five consecutive Gold Medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. His outstanding design talent, highly creative approach and, in his own words, “good friends, great suppliers and bucketsful of captivating flowers and buds” all combined to launch his studio. Joseph Massie will bring his floral magic to the Cleveland Museum of Art on December 3rd with a demonstration celebrating thirty years of inspired Flower Fund Designs. The demonstration will begin at 10:30 am in the museum’s Gardner Auditorium and is open to the public. Save the date! For more information please contact: email@example.com.
