The Gates Mills Garden Club is fortunate to be able to award scholarships to high school seniors who attend high schools within the Gates Mills community and the Gates Mills Environmental Education Center. The Environmental Education Center specializes in horticulture and environmental programs. Training in flower arranging, pesticide management and equipment maintenance is also a part of the curriculum. The recipients of the Gates Mills Garden Club Scholarship and the Laurie Hess Horticultural Award all go on to further their education in horticultural fields of study. 2017 Scholarship Winner
Kai Beller is the 2017 recipient of the Gates Mills Garden Club Scholarship and the Laurie Hess Horticulture Award. Kai is extremely articulate, compassionate and committed to the environment and the betterment of our world. Kai plans to study sustainability in college and hopes to one day own a sustainable landscape and construction business.
